With Grandma Joan’s Southern Style Food Truck, we take our culinary skills to your community. You can have fresh, quality, and comfort food without having to travel to a restaurant. Instead, we will park our food truck in the hot spots of the Steel City, or in the heart of your neighborhood, so you can have good eats in the streets!

Grandma Joan’s is the dream-come-true experience of our founder Jacquelyn Wright, aka Ms. Jackie, who combined her childcare profession with her passion.
While in the 18th year of serving the parents and children of the Hill District community as owner of Kelly’s Kingdom Childcare Center, Ms. Jackie decided to step out and publicly launch her inherited love of cooking, through opening this unique southern style food truck.
Our Southern Style Story
Created to carry out the legacy of Ms. Joan, Ms. Jackie’s mother who loved to cook; you can get a meal that’s filled with flavor and lots of love. It’s been said that Grandma Joan never met a stranger. Everyone was like family to her, and she displayed a warmhearted, southern-type of hospitality while living in the Hill District.
Though the catering services and food truck experience offered through Grandma Joan’s launched in 2018, the history behind it is as rich as the sweet cake you can order off the menu.
The delectable dinners and scrumptious brunch options awaiting your arrival, come from the generational legacy of a family who was known for “getting down” in the kitchen. Right alongside Grandma Joan’s love of cooking was Aunt Sue Wright, who whipped up hard-to-resist homemade baked bread, and Aunt Bernice Wheeler who made a deliciously mean macaroni & cheese. It was these 3 matriarchs along with Grandma Holly, who inspired Ms. Jackie’s love of food. Grandma Holly was all-natural and had a farm. Back in the day, she was afraid of anything that didn’t come from the soil of her farmland. Going to the store was not an option for her. She only used what was homegrown, and the family would go to her farm to enjoy meals prepared from scratch. Mrs. Holly’s culinary skills were so good, she never used a measuring cup. She used a pinch of this, and a dash of that, presenting you with an overwhelmingly delicious dinner!
Whether you’re placing a catering order or picking up your lunch from the food truck, it is with this same great family talent, that the chefs of Grandma Joan’s will prepare your food.
Build-A-Business While Feeding Your Belly
Our one-of-a-kind yellow ride already lets you know that Grandma Joan’s Southern Style Food Truck is unique, but there’s something else that truly sets us apart from the rest! When you visit the food truck on specific days, you’ll be in for a special treat! There’ll be a guest chef’s food of which you can eat.
As a way to support up-and-coming chefs, and those who don’t have a brick and mortar location, we feature guest cooks on our truck. Licensed chefs are able to rent our food truck for an evening, park it in a place of their choice, and present their menu to everyone with an appetite. This is our way giving back and supporting the community.

We know that you love certain foods, and you could eat them every day. As to not get bored with it, we decided to spice things up in our own special way! In addition to our breakfast and lunch menu , we’ve added the sugar, spice, and everything nice to our popular crowd favorites - burgers and fries.
The next time you’re craving a burger with a twist, try one of our yummy specialties! Our macaroni & cheese burger and the hibachi burger are running neck to neck. Come and build your own sandwich, we have plenty of options on deck!
